Candice Burrell

Mrs. Candice Burrell is entering her second year as assistant principal at Mechanicsville High School. She has proudly served the students of Hanover County Public Schools since 2002. During this time, Mrs. Burrell served as a special education teacher and department chair at Atlee High School, secondary extended school year (ESY) coordinator, special education teacher, student-centered instructional coach, and assistant principal at Patrick Henry High School. She has participated in school and division-level committees related to incorporating high-impact teaching practices, enhancing school climate and culture, and ensuring meaningful opportunities in order to improve students’ educational experiences.

Mrs. Burrell earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Interdisciplinary Studies from Virginia Union University and a Master of Education degree with a concentration in Educational Leadership from James Madison University.

Mrs. Burrell resides in Henrico with her husband and son, and her daughter resides in North Carolina as a college student.
